National Dairy Month comes to life across the Midwest

Posted

National Dairy Month provides Midwest Dairy with one of the year’s largest opportunities to put dairy farmers’ checkoff investments to work. Through retail partnerships, media campaigns, farmer storytelling and consumer engagement efforts, Midwest Dairy is using National Dairy Month to build consumer trust in dairy and help drive sales across the region.

Building consumer trust remains a critical component of dairy’s long-term success. Midwest Dairy is elevating farmers’ stories and showcasing responsible practices, high standards of cow care and the local nature of dairy production through targeted consumer activations.

As part of a checkoff partnership with iHeartRadio and ESPN, Sarah Lenkaitis of Lenkaitis Holsteins in St. Charles, Illinois, is sharing how dairy is produced with care for cows and the environment. Her radio segments will air throughout June in the Chicago area, reaching an estimated three million consumers. After June, they will be repurposed to continue sharing dairy’s story while promoting the International Year of the Woman Farmer.

Midwest Dairy CEO Corey Scott will further amplify these efforts as a guest on iHeartMedia’s “MN CEOs You Should Know” podcast, expanding the reach of dairy’s story.

Beyond media, retail partnerships are another important component of Midwest Dairy’s demand-building strategy. By working with retailers to feature dairy products through promotions, recipes, digital advertising and in-store displays, checkoff dollars help keep dairy top of mind for shoppers and encourage dairy purchases during one of the year’s highest-profile dairy celebration periods.

Many of Midwest Dairy’s retail partners are also celebrating National Dairy Month, including Coborn’s, Cub Foods, Fareway, Hy-Vee, Jewel-Osco and Schnucks. Across stores and digital channels, they’re promoting dairy nutrition and sustainability while offering in-store and online deals to help drive sales.

Several partners are bringing these efforts to life in unique ways. Coborn’s, Inc. (77 locations across six states) is featuring four local dairy farmers while spotlighting staples like milk, yogurt and cottage cheese through its e-commerce pages, in-store signage, local TV segments and social media. Fareway (140 locations across seven states) is honoring farmers with its “Farm to Freezer — Real Dairy” campaign, highlighting frozen treats through social content, influencer partnerships, magazine ads and in-store promotions. Schnucks (113 locations across four states) is offering category-wide dairy promotions along with recipe inspiration for shoppers. These examples reflect just a sample of how retail partners across Midwest Dairy’s 10-state region are celebrating National Dairy Month.

Midwest Dairy staff are honoring the people behind National Dairy Month by sharing their appreciation for dairy farmers and the work they do every day. To hear directly from checkoff staff, follow Midwest Dairy on Facebook and Instagram.
