Key moment strategy delivers strong sales

Fall is a season built around gatherings. Families settle into new school-year routines. Friends meet up for tailgates. Fans gather around televisions for game-day traditions. And, across the Midwest, people find reasons to come together around the dinner table.

This fall, Midwest Dairy is making sure dairy is part of those moments.

Through its “Fall Moments” key moment campaign, Midwest Dairy is connecting consumers with dairy through family meals, entertaining, tailgating, sports watch parties and other seasonal occasions. The campaign is part of a broader 2026 strategy to keep dairy top of mind when consumers are deciding what to prepare, purchase and bring home.

The fall activation builds on Midwest Dairy’s earlier 2026 key moment campaigns, including a health and wellness focus and National Dairy Month in June. Each campaign is designed around a specific consumer moment, creating opportunities to connect dairy with occasions when food and purchasing decisions naturally intersect.

Making dairy part of what consumers already love

Taste is at the heart of the fall strategy. Mintel research shows that taste is among the top factors consumers consider when purchasing food, reinforcing the importance of demonstrating how dairy enhances foods people already enjoy.

Cheese, yogurt, sour cream, cottage cheese and other dairy products can transform familiar recipes by adding flavor, creaminess and enjoyment to everything from family dinners to gameday snacks.

Retail creative reflects those occasions, featuring nutritious after-school snacks, comforting meals around the family table, cheesy appetizers, dips and other foods designed for sharing.

Cheese also represents a significant opportunity at retail, ranking as the highest-selling dairy product by volume, followed by milk and yogurt. Retail creatives feature these products specifically, capitalizing on growing trends that help increase sales in the category and incremental pounds of milk sold.

The campaign puts those products into relatable, everyday situations, helping consumers see how dairy can fit naturally into the meals and moments they’re already planning.

Midwest Dairy is using an omnichannel approach to bring Fall Gatherings to life both in stores and online. Retail partners include Hy-Vee, Fareway, Cub Foods, Coborn’s, Schnucks, Dierbergs and Price Chopper, with activations spanning online, in-store and off-site promotions. Digital partners, including Chicory, Instacart, Catalina, Neptune and Albertsons Media Collective, extend the campaign across Midwest Dairy’s 10-state region.

Seasonal and trending recipes will give consumers easy, budget-friendly ideas for family meals, entertaining and tailgating — helping turn a digital impression or store display into something consumers can put on the table.

For dairy farmers, the significance of these campaigns goes beyond visibility. In June 2026, National Dairy Month efforts alone generated more than 8.6 million incremental pounds of milk sales through retail partnerships while reaching millions of consumers and households across the region.

Those results illustrate why strategic partnerships matter. Every recipe viewed, retail display encountered and digital promotion delivered is an opportunity to connect consumers with dairy at a point when they are thinking about food and making purchasing decisions.

The goal is simple: Create more reasons for consumers to choose dairy and bring it home.

Gathering around food does not have to be complicated. It can be a family dinner, a plate of cheesy appetizers before the game or a favorite dip shared with friends. We want to encourage people to bring others together, make something delicious and enjoy the moment.

For Midwest Dairy, those moments represent more than seasonal marketing. They are opportunities to strengthen consumer connections, support retail demand and build stronger markets for dairy farmers.

This fall, whether the gathering happens around a family table, a tailgate or a television on game day, Midwest Dairy is putting dairy where it belongs — in the moments that bring people together.
