It doesn’t take long to realize how much you take things for granted until they’re not there or not working.

I woke up this morning at 3:40 a.m. like usual. I made my way to the bathroom, went to flush the toilet, and it didn’t flush.

“Mmmm OK, the plunger must be stuck; I will look at it later,” I thought.

I went to wash my hands and brush my teeth. I turned on the water — nothing. Well, that solves the toilet issue, but we’ve now got way bigger problems.

I go downstairs to check things over and see if we can find the cause. Nope, not an easy fix like we had hoped. No water in the house means no water in the barn, either. Like I said, bigger problems than I originally thought.

Thankfully, we were able to get ahold of someone, and they were able to get to the farm fairly quickly. It didn’t take them long to discover we needed a new well pump. So, they went to work on that task and had water back to the herd within an hour of their arrival.

I definitely realized how much I take for granted the amount of water I use to get through the day and the availability of clean, fresh water. I am also very thankful for the local well company that came to our rescue today!
