When do you do chores? I do morning chores until I have to go to work, and then I do chores every night. I work in the shop at Brandner Dairy near Medford.
What is your favorite and least favorite chore? I like doing fieldwork and don’t like filling feed carts.
What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? I like fixing things here on the farm and working in the shop.
Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. Last summer, we went to the Half Century of Farm Progress Show in Rantoul, Illinois. It’s the world’s biggest working farm show. That was fun.
What is your favorite animal on your farm? Our new chocolate lab puppy, Reese.
What do you want to be when you grow up? A diesel mechanic or welder or do steel fabrication. I plan to join the Army when I turn 18 and get my diesel mechanics degree through that.
If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. I would probably stick to a crop farm and have Case IH Magnums.
What is your favorite dairy product? Chocolate milk from Kwik Trip or ice cream.
What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? I like being able to go to farm shows.
Are you involved in activities? I am in 4-H.
Henry Winnie

Ninth grade
When do you do chores? I do chores every morning and every night.
What is your favorite and least favorite chore? I like helping milk, and scraping stalls and grates is my least favorite.
What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? I like helping with fieldwork, especially chisel plowing.
Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. When I got to drive a Versatile 375 tractor.
What is your favorite animal on your farm? I like the cows in general. Grape Nuts is probably my favorite cow; she is our best cow.
What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be a dairy farmer.
If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. It would be a lot like our farm is now, except I’d have a freestall barn and a calf barn. I’d want to milk around 140 cows. I just like that number.
What is your favorite game to play on the farm? I like to snowmobile.
What is your favorite dairy product? Chocolate milk.
What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? I like going to the fair and showing my steer there.

Mary Ellen Winnie

Sixth grade
When do you do chores? I help with morning chores.
What is your favorite and least favorite chore? I like feeding grain to the steers; my least favorite chore is scraping the stalls.
What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? We only did it once, but painting the barn last summer was a memorable experience.
Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. Getting to show steers and sheep at the county fair has been a fun memory.
What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be a teacher, probably in elementary school.
If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. I would just have a small farm with maybe 20 cows and some sheep.
What is your favorite game to play on the farm? I like baking, painting and walking my steers.
What is your favorite dairy product? Mint ice cream.
What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? I like going to the lake.
Are you involved in activities? I am the secretary of our 4-H club.
Peter Winnie

Fourth grade
When do you do chores? I help with chores every day in the morning and at night.
What is your favorite and least favorite chore? I like feeding calves and don’t like scraping the holding pen.
What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? I like to help when we tap trees and helping when we pick rocks.
Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. Riding with Dad when he cuts or chops hay.
What is your favorite animal on your farm? My favorite is a Hereford bull calf I hope to raise as a market steer for the county fair next year. He is only about a month old, and I haven’t named him yet.
What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be a farmer.
If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. It would be a lot like this with lots of cows. I’d have a red barn.
What is your favorite game to play on the farm? I like spending time with the animals and doing things outside.
What is your favorite dairy product? Mint ice cream.
What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? I like to go to Pizza Ranch. I like all the pizza. I also liked when we went to Farmall Land before it closed.
Philip Winnie

First grade
When do you do chores? Mostly in the summer when it’s nice outside.
What is your favorite and least favorite chore? I like being in the tractor with Dad. Sometimes he lets me help steer. I don’t like feeding calves.
What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? I like it when we get to go get ice cream.
Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. I liked when we had my sister’s graduation party. There were lots of kids to play with.
What is your favorite animal on your farm? I like the baby sheep. My favorite sheep is Marshmallow. She’s the grandma of them all. She is nice to me.
What do you want to be when you grow up? Probably somebody who makes ice cream.
If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. I’d have cows and make ice cream with the milk. And I’d probably have millions of sheep, just in case all my cows might die.
What is your favorite game to play on the farm? I like to eat strawberries and play chase tag and in the sandbox.
What is your favorite dairy product? Vanilla ice cream with maple syrup and chocolate sauce.
What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? I like to go eat at Culver’s. I like getting ice cream.
Noah Winnie

When do you do chores? I like to help Mom and Dad when it is nice outside.
What is your favorite and least favorite chore? I like helping Dad. I do not like picking up my toys.
What is your favorite animal on your farm? The orange cat named Smansino.
What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be a farmer like Dad and climb up the silo. Or maybe I just want to stay a kid forever.
If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. I would have cows and bulls and calves and tractors, and that is all.
What is your favorite game to play on the farm? I like to play ball, and I like throwing the ball. I like playing in the sandbox.

What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? I like going to play at a park.
