Twelfth grade
When do you do chores? I usually start chores after school at roughly 1:45 p.m., and Monday morning herd check starts at 6 a.m. Three days a week, I go out early to get a start on chores. Depending on what time of year it is, I will help with chores before school and after.
What is your favorite and least favorite chore? My favorite chore is probably manure handling and field work. My least favorite is cutting open junk round bales and hauling them in the fall.
What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? Welding projects I usually like a lot.
Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. Chopping corn is usually a fun experience for me.
What is your favorite animal on your farm? Cow No. 772 is one of my favorite cows. She loves extra attention.
What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to continue to be a dairy farmer on our family farm.
If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. My farm would be similar to what we have now. I like our setup.
What is your favorite game to play on the farm? My favorite game is seeing who can shovel the manure faster.
What is your favorite meal that your mom or dad makes? I like it when we grill and have burgers or steaks.
What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? Grocery shopping. Just kidding, but I don’t leave the farm very often.
What do you like to do during your free time? I like to go bow hunting.
Are you involved in activities? What is your favorite and why? I have played football since seventh grade. I was a three-year letter winner and starter. I have been a member of FFA since seventh grade and won several awards. I’ve also shot trap since my freshman year and have been in the letter club since my freshman year.

Lydia Voigts

Ninth grade
When do you do chores? I mainly feed calves after school during the week, but on the weekends, I sometimes feed both in the morning and the evening.
What is your favorite and least favorite chore? My favorite chore is feeding the calves their milk replacer. My least favorite chore is scraping manure.
What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? I enjoy helping my parents vaccinate the animals on the farm.
Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. My favorite memory is when my family would be covering the bunker with plastic and I would roll down the silage.
What is your favorite animal on your farm? We have a Waygu-cross, burrito, and he is the sweetest little (little fat) beefer we own.
What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be an anesthesiologist.
If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. My farm would be a little hobby farm with tons of different animals. It would have a nice big white barn for them to stay in.
What is your favorite game to play on the farm? I really like playing tag on the round bales.
What is your favorite meal that your mom or dad makes? My dad makes really good fresh burgers on the grill.
What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? I really like it when we go on road trips, even the short ones.
What do you like to do during your free time? I like hanging out with friends, reading, going to sporting events and driving around randomly.
Are you involved in activities? What is your favorite and why? I am in FFA, student council and diversity club. My favorite is FFA because I learn new things and get to skip school for field trips.

Naomi Voigts

Fifth grade
When do you do chores? I feed calves and heifers after school. On the weekends, I feed in the morning and afternoon.
What is your favorite and least favorite chore? My favorite chore is feeding the calves, and my least favorite is bedding.
What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? Sometimes I help with vaccinating the calves and heifers.
Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. A fun memory for me is running on top of the wrapped bales.
What is your favorite animal on your farm? My cow, Adelle, is my favorite. I used to walk around with Adelle on the farm when I was younger.
What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be a large animal veterinarian.
If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. I would have about 90 cows and some horses. It would be just a small farm.
What is your favorite game to play on the farm? I like playing volleyball with my sister.
What is your favorite meal that your mom or dad makes? My favorite meal is when my mom makes chicken alfredo.
What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? I like it when we go to water parks or on trips together.
What do you like to do during your free time? I like to play volleyball and basketball.
