Leah Schulze

9 years old

Third grade

When do you do chores? I do chores after school and on the weekends.

What is your favorite and least favorite chore? My favorite chore is feeding our pigs, and my least favorite is tarping the silage pile.

What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? I like to cook with my mom.

Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. I really like picking out 4-H calves each year.

What is your favorite animal on your farm?  Buster, my 4-H calf, is my favorite because this is the first year I will get to show on my own.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be a carpenter or a farmer.

If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. There would be horses, pigs, cows, goats and a lot of fields. There would also be chickens because I like to make them into chicken nuggets.

What is your favorite game to play on the farm? Sardines. It is similar to hide and seek, but only one person hides, and everyone else tries to find them.

What is your favorite meal that your mom or dad makes? My favorite meal is hot dogs with pickles.

What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? I like to go biking or swimming at the Pipestone pool.

What do you like to do during your free time? I do not like to stay at home. I want to go to other places, sometimes to my grandma and grandpa’s house.

Lydia Schulze

9 years old

Third grade

When do you do chores?  I do chores after school, but mostly during the summer.

What is your favorite and least favorite chore? My favorite chore is feeding the baby calves and my least favorite is scooping poop in the pig pen.

What project do you enjoy on the farm? I like to ride in the tractor with my dad.

Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. I really like picking my 4-H calf each year.

What is your favorite animal on your farm? I really like all the baby calves and the baby kitties.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be a teacher because that is what my mom does.

If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. I will probably take over this farm, but I would add horses to it.

What is your favorite game to play on the farm? I like to paint with my sister, Leah.

What is your favorite meal that your mom or dad makes? My favorite meal is rice bowls.

What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? I like to go biking or swimming at the Pipestone pool.

What do you like to do during your free time? I like to watch YouTube videos of funny dogs.

Cooper Schulze

12 years old

Sixth grade

When do you do chores? I feed calves after school, on the weekends and in the summertime.

What is your favorite and least favorite chore? My favorite chore is milking the cows and taking care of the newborn calves. My least favorite is picking rocks because it is usually hot and dirty.

What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? I really like doing woodworking and helping Dad in the shop.

Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. I have a lot of fun making PVC pipe light sabers with my cousins.

What is your favorite animal on your farm? My pig is my favorite because he is messy like me.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be an architect, an accountant or a lawyer.

If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. There would be a big shed next to my huge house with a pool. There would be a big pig shed, a huge cow shed and a tiny chicken shed, along with a big green pasture next to it with heifers.

What is your favorite game to play on the farm? My favorite game to play on the farm is Murder in the Dark because my cousins come over to play together; there are about 15 people.

What is your favorite meal that your mom or dad makes? My favorite meal is shrimp alfredo.

What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? I like to take cruise ship vacations. We just went on the beginning of May.

Are you involved in activities? What is your favorite? I’m involved in 4-H, FCCLA, basketball, band, choir, football, and baseball. My favorite is basketball or baseball because my cousin practices with me.

13 years old

Seventh grade

When do you do chores? I feed calves after school, on the weekends and during the summer.

What is your favorite and least favorite chore? My favorite chore is feeding the baby heifers and my least favorite is tarping the silage pile.

What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? I like to cook with my mom and plant flowers by our house.

Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. I would sneak out of the house and go feed the baby calves before my mom would wake up.

What is your favorite animal on your farm? All the cows because I like to feed them and pet them.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be a surgical nurse who helps doctors during surgery.

If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. It would have cows, pigs, chickens, sheep, goats, a lot of buildings and a pool.

What is your favorite game to play on the farm? My favorite game to play on the farm is Ghost in the Graveyard.

What is your favorite meal that your mom or dad makes? My favorite meal is mashed potatoes with gravy and chicken.

What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? I really like to participate in sports.

What do you like to do during your free time? I do not have a lot of free time.

Are you involved in activities? What is your favorite? I’m involved in softball, basketball, volleyball, band, choir, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America, FFA, 4-H and Pipestone County dairy ambassadors. My favorite is softball because I have a lot of fun playing it.

Collin Schulze

16 years old

Ninth grade

When do you do chores? I do chores on the weekends and after practice in the evenings.

What is your favorite and least favorite chore? My favorite chore is pushing up feed with the skid steer. My least favorite is picking rocks or fixing fence.

What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? I like to drive around in the tractors.

Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. We were picking up bales in the tractor with my sister and my dad came up to us to slow us down. We were going way too fast, but it was still fun.

What is your favorite animal on your farm? Fergie, she is a Red & White Holstein. I earned a trip to the state 4-H show with her.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be an electrician but still work on the farm.

If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. My farm would look just like ours does now, except it would have a lot more grain bins.

What is your favorite game to play on the farm? My favorite game to play on the farm is farmers’ roulette, tipping a bottle.

What is your favorite meal that your mom or dad makes? My favorite meal is any flavor or brand of pizza.

What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? I like to go fishing, but I cannot tell you the name of the lake I go to.

Are you involved in activities? What is your favorite? I’m involved in golf, basketball, cross country, FFA, 4-H and band. My favorite is golf because I get to go golfing with my buddies.
