Kids Corner: The Blunt Family

When do you do chores? I do chores on the weekends and evenings.

What is your favorite and least favorite chore? My favorite chore is milking cows; my least favorite is bedding cows.

What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? Taking care of my rabbits and ducks at home. I also like to help load steers to haul to town.

Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. When I get to name all the calves that are born.

What is your favorite animal on your farm? My favorite animal is my cow, Snowflake. She is a nice first-calf heifer.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I’m not sure yet, but I’m thinking about working on my family’s fourth-generation farm.

If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. Everything will be robots from milking to feeding, along with all robot calf feeders, so I’ll have time to take care of the heifers and steers.

What is your favorite game to play on the farm? Jumping bales, either big squares or round bales.

What is your favorite meal that your mom or dad makes? When my mom makes grilled potato pockets.

What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? Just chilling with them and playing games.

Are you involved in activities? What is your favorite and why? I’m involved in the Litchfield Middle School swimming and dive team, Junior Dragonaires, Litchfield FFA, Meeker County Dairy Ambassador and Meeker County 4-H (4-H ambassador, rabbit knowledge bowl and president of my club). My favorite is Meeker County 4-H because there are so many learning opportunities that will help me in the future. I also like to show my rabbits and poultry (ducks and geese).

What is your favorite and least favorite chore? My favorite chore is mixing feed and feeding cows; my least favorite is post-dipping cows.

What project do you enjoy helping your parents with on the farm? I like helping haul bales. 

Tell us a fun memory you have of living on the farm. I like to go into a just-weaned calf pen and get chased by them.

What is your favorite animal on your farm? My favorite animal is my cat, Rugrat. She likes to climb on me and sit on my shoulders.

What do you want to be when you grow up? A beef farmer and a baseball player.

If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. I would have beef cows and all my cats, dogs, ducks and rabbits.

What is your favorite game to play on the farm? Playing catch, basketball and volleyball with my sister.

What is your favorite meal that your mom or dad makes? When my parents cook a steak on the grill.

What is your favorite thing to do off the farm with your family? Play baseball or have them come to my games in the summer.
