Questions for parents:
Tell us your favorite experience of working with Jaden. He’s been riding in the tractor with me since he was very small. It has been good to see him learn things on his own and pick up on things quickly. He has been a good help with fieldwork this year.
What qualities does Jaden have that benefit the farm? He is an early riser, and we never have to tell him to get at chores. He knows how to drive equipment and milk; he is a well-rounded kid.
Questions for Jaden:
What are your responsibilities on the farm? I can do just about everything on the farm. I mostly help with fieldwork and take care of heifer chores at our other farm. Sometimes I milk if Dad needs me to. I also feed cows and calves.
When did you begin helping on the farm? I always rode with Dad and helped as soon as I could, but I have taken on more responsibility in the last couple years as my grandpa has aged.
How has working on the farm shaped your character? It has taught me to be more responsible and to be a hard worker. I have gained a sense of priority from working on the farm.
What do you love most about farm life? Fieldwork. I love being out in the field and spending time in the tractor.
What is one thing you have learned from working alongside your parents? My dad taught me a lot about equipment and what to do in case something happens.
What are your future plans? I plan to go to college for agronomy or agribusiness. I will possibly return to the farm at some point, but I’m not sure yet.
