Tell us your favorite experience of working with Dan. There is never a dull moment when working with Dan. When I think he is feeding youngstock, he is in the shop fixing something but still gets the cattle fed.
What qualities does Dan have that benefit the farm? He is not afraid to tackle any new challenges that come at him. He is good at troubleshooting a problem, and if he can’t figure something out, he contacts someone who will help him figure out the problem.
What are your responsibilities on the farm? My responsibilities are feeding the youngstock which includes the baby calves to the cows, feeder steers and the heifers.
When did you begin helping on the farm? I thought I was helping as soon as I could walk, but now I look back and realize there is a big difference in when I thought I helped and when I actually started helping. I started feeding calves when I was 8 and started driving tractor later.
How has working on the farm shaped your character? Farming has shaped my character in many ways like paying attention to detail and becoming more responsible.
What do you love most about farm life? I enjoy the diversity of the farm. Every day is different, and there are always different challenges to face.
What is one thing you have learned from working alongside your parents? If you want something, you have to work for it.
What are your future plans? After high school, I plan to farm full time with my brothers, Robert and Tom, and my dad.
