Kids Corner: The Rasmussens

Madi Rasmussen
12 years old
Seventh grade at Brookwood Middle School

When do you do chores? I do chores every other night and on weekends.
What is your favorite chore and least favorite chore? My favorite chore is feeding calves because I can just pop my ear buds in and be by myself. My least favorite chore is cleaning mangers because the wet silage is a pain in the butt to get out of the mangers.
What is your favorite animal on your farm? My favorite animal is Axl because he is a puppy and so affectionate. He goes everywhere with me around the farm.
What is your favorite subject in school? My favorite subject is math because it’s a skill I’ve had for a long time.
What is something you have learned in school recently? In social studies, we have been learning about Central America and the Caribbean.
What do you want to be when you grow up? A teacher.
If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. If I had a farm, I would have tractors, cows, chickens, dogs, cats and maybe some sheep and pigs.
What is your favorite dairy treat? Ice cream.
What is your favorite game to play at home and on the farm? I like building forts with Annabelle. Last year, we made a really good one.
Are you involved in any activities? I did volleyball this year, and that was fun to learn about the game and to hang out with the other girls on the team. 


Annabelle Rasmussen
10 years old
Fifth grade at Norwalk Ontario Wilton Elementary

When do you do chores? Every day.
What is your favorite chore and least favorite chore? My favorite chore is cleaning mangers because it is easy. My least favorite chore is bedding the cow stalls because it’s hard to get the bale started and it’s heavy.
What is your favorite animal on your farm? All the dogs are my favorite because I get to teach them tricks. We have five dogs named Moose, Molly, Hank, Norman and Axl.
What is your favorite subject in school? My favorite subject is art because I like to be creative.
What is something you have learned in school recently? We are learning how to divide fractions.
What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be a horse trainer when I grow up.
If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. I would have a lot of horses and cows. I would also have dogs, cats, pigs, sheep, goats and lots of ducks and chickens. 
What is your favorite dairy treat? That would be cheese curds.
What is your favorite game to play at home and on the farm? I like to build forts in the snow then hide during snowball fights.
What do you like to do during recess? Play volleyball. 

Levi Rasmussen
7 years old
Second grade at Norwalk Ontario Wilton Elementary

When do you do chores? All the time.
What is your favorite chore and least favorite chore? I like to feed my dog, Moose, because I like to pet him when he’s by his food and water. My least favorite chore is taking the garbage out because it’s usually heavy.
What is your favorite animal on your farm? My favorite animal is our dog, Moose. He is a blue heeler/Maremma mix. He is a really good dog and very sweet and protective of us.
What is your favorite subject in school? Recess because I can play with my friends.
What is something you have learned in school recently? I have been learning three-digit addition.
What do you want to be when you grow up? A farmer.
If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. I would have tractors, cows, dogs, pigs, sheep and a few cats.
What is your favorite dairy treat? Ice cream.
What is your favorite game to play at home and on the farm? I like snowball fights.
What do you like to do during recess? Play soccer.


Charlotte Rasmussen
5 years old
Kindergarten at Norwalk Ontario Wilton Elementary

When do you do chores? On weekends.
What is your favorite chore and least favorite chore? Bedding cow stalls is my favorite because it is easy. Cleaning mangers is my least favorite because it’s hard.
What is your favorite animal on your farm? Axl, my dog. He is a blue heeler and is 3 months old. He likes to play.
What is your favorite subject in school? Play time because it’s the most fun.
What is something you have learned in school recently? How to spell words.
What do you want to be when you grow up? A teacher.
If you had a farm, describe what it would look like. I would have all the farm animals and some unicorns.
What is your favorite dairy treat? Ice cream.
What is your favorite game to play at home and on the farm? Minecraft Uno.
What do you like to do during recess? Go down the slide.
