One-On-One with Greg Clark, GMC Farms
Why do you come to Expo? We come for the exposure, advertising and breed promotion for Brown Swiss and Milking Shorthorns.
How long did it take you to get here? It took us 32 hours this year. It usually takes 22 hours.
What is your favorite part about making the trip to Expo/least favorite? I don't have a favorite part of the trip. My least favorite part is the thought of breakdowns. I have hit deer and we've had duals fall off our pickup.
What is the most challenging part about making the trip? It's challenging keeping the cows on feed and milking. We want to keep them looking good while they are here.
How much sleep do you get during the week of Expo? Everybody works on little sleep. A good night sleep, on average, is five to six hours of sleep. People can get naps during the day.
Tell us something unique about your travels. This year, while we were driving through Cleveland, the bearings on the trailer caught on fire. It was raining out so we had to pull over and limp 10 miles to a truck stop. We swapped trailers since we had milk cows on the broken trailer and heifers on the other. So we left the heifers and the tack on the broken trailer and finally got it fixed in Madison.[[In-content Ad]]
