MILC payment reminder

By Ryan Brunn- | Comments: 0 | Leave a comment

All dairy producers will need to have a 2012 AGI (Adjusted Gross Income) form on file to be eligible to receive payments. All individuals, entities and members of entities (including husbands/wives or sons/daughters receiving payments for milk sold) need to complete this AGI form. In Stearns County our FSA office is discovering a large percentage of the producers do not have a 2012 AGI on file therefore the payment cannot be issued. Visit your local FSA office to update the annual AGI form to be eligible for the MILC payment.

Beginning and Limited Resource Loan
FSA has a program to assist beginning farmers and/or members of socially disadvantaged groups to finance agricultural enterprises. Under these designated farm loan programs, FSA can provide financing to eligible applicants through either direct or guaranteed loans. FSA defines a beginning farmer as a person who:
• Has operated a farm for not more that 10 years
• Will materially and substantially participate in the operation of the farm
• Agrees to participate in a loan assessment, borrower training and financial management program sponsored by FSA
• Does not own a farm in excess of 30 percent of the county's median size.
Each member of an entity must meet the eligibility requirements. Loan approval is not guaranteed.
Additional program information, loan applications, and other materials are available at the local USDA Service Center or visit www.fsa.usda.gov and www.nrcs.usda.gov.

Supplemental Revenue Assistance (SURE) Program
Signup for 2010 crop losses due to several natural disasters that affected MN during the 2010 crop year began on November 14, 2011 and ends on June 1, 2012.
To qualify for a SURE payment, the producer's operation must be located in a county that was declared a Secretarial disaster for 2010 or be contiguous to a disaster declared county and have at least a 10 percent production loss that affects one crop of economic significance. Producers with agricultural operations located outside a disaster county are eligible for sure benefits if they had a production loss greater or equal to 50 percent of the normal production on the farm. To meet program eligibility requirements, producers must have obtained a policy or plan of insurance for all insurable crops through the Federal Crop Insurance Corp. and obtained Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP) coverage on non-insurable crops if available from FSA.

Up-coming deadlines for 2012
• June 1, 2012 - deadline to timely signup for the DCP & ACRE programs
• June 1, 2012 - SURE program deadline to apply for 2010 crop losses.
