Layered Lettuce Salad
Recipes submitted by Diane Botzet, Carlos, Minn.
1st layer: chop one or two heads of lettuce.
2nd layer: sprinkle with one cup frozen peas (not cooked).
3rd layer: one cup chopped celery.
4th layer: small amount of chopped onion, optional.
5th layer: one-half cup green pepper, chopped.
6th layer: spoon one cup real mayonnaise over all (do not use miracle whip). Smooth over with spatula.
7th layer: Sprinkle small package of shredded cheddar cheese over all.
8th layer: one-half to one pound crisp fried bacon bits. Add bacon just before serving.
Will keep several days in covered cake pan. May use croutons, tomatoes or cucumbers as garnish just before serving as individual salads.
