Kids Corner: The Hennings
Fourth-grader
When do you do chores and what do you do? I do chores when I get home from school. I collect eggs, help milk, take care of the incubator, check traps and clean out calf pens.
What are your favorite and least favorite chores? My favorite chore is to check the traps, because I like to catch critters. My least favorite chore is checking the incubator because there is no action.
Do you have a favorite animal on the farm? The rabbits are my favorite.
What do you want to be when you grow up? A farmer and a trapper.
If you had your own farm what would it look like? Like my Dad's; only bigger.
What is your favorite class in school? Lunch, because I get to eat!
What is the best thing about growing up on a dairy farm? Learning a lot from my Mom and Dad, because it'll help me when I'm grown up.

When do you do chores and what do you do? I do chores when I get home from school. I collect eggs and help with the incubator, clean out rabbit cages, feed calves, and sweep Dad's shop.
What are your favorite and least favorite chores? My favorite chore is collecting eggs because I get to visit the chickens. My least favorite chore is sweeping the shop because there are no animals in there.
Do you have a favorite animal on the farm? The chickens are my favorite, because they are tame enough to hold and pet.
What do you want to be when you grow up? A farmer.
If you had your own farm what would it look like? My farm will be filled with many animals like chickens, cows, hogs, lambs, goats, ducks and a dog.
What is your favorite class in school? Computer, because I can do book reports.
What is the best thing about growing up on a dairy farm? My favorite part about growing up on a dairy farm is being around cows and animals, because I love animals!

When do you do chores and what do you do? I do chores with Mom. I collect chicken eggs and give pellets to baby calves.
What are your favorite and least favorite chores? My favorite chore is collecting the eggs, because I do it with my brothers. I do not have a least favorite chore, I like my jobs.
Do you have a favorite animal on the farm? Baby calves are my favorite animals because I can hug them.
What do you want to be when you grow up? Cowgirl.
If you had your own farm what would it look like? My farm will be big with chickens, cows and a big sandbox.
What is your favorite class in school? I don't go to school yet.
What is the best thing about growing up on a dairy farm? I like the farm because I can see cows, chickens and I can ride in the combine and tractors.
