Dairy Star is seeking a writer/reporter for Wisconsin
The writing position includes writing hard news, features, human interest stories and columns. Part of the job also includes subject planning, content decisions, photography and some layout.
Essential duties:
• News content. To develop story ideas within a 14 county radius of western Wisconsin. Once story ideas come to fruition, proceeding to interview the subjects as well.
Photography. Must be more than capable with a camera to take provoking photos to go along with the individual interviews they conduct.
Column writing. Must be willing to write a monthly column pertaining to the dairy industry or their own personal lives.
Headlines. Should be able to write crisp, unique headlines that draws the readers attention.
Team player. Must be willing to work closely with other staff members that are branched out within the Dairy Star circulation area. Also must be willing to travel to work many of the dairy shows where the Dairy Star exhibits. Some overnight travel is required.
Other duties including blogging, video, proofreading and design work may be assigned as well.
Requirements
These qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following:
• A bachelor's degree in journalism or journalist experience.
• An agriculture background.
