Chocolate Cake Brownies

Recipe submitted by Jeannette Sheehan Rochester, Minn.

In large bowl mix:
2 cup sugar
2 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
Set aside.

In a pan on stove top, boil:
1 cup water
4 Tblsp. cocoa
2 sticks of butter
After it boils for 1 minute pour it into dry ingredients and add:
1/2 cup sour cream
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
Pour into greased and floured 15 ½ x 10 baking pan. Place in oven for 20 to 25 minutes at 375 degrees. While cake is in oven start making the icing.

Icing
In a pan on the stove combine:
1 stick butter
6 Tblsp. milk
4 Tblsp. cocoa
Cook until bubbly, then remove and immediately add:
1 cup nuts (optional)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 box of powdered sugar (1 lb)
Start adding the powdered sugar until desired consistency.
Frost brownies while hot - it is easier to spread frosting. Pour the frosting down the center and let it run to the sides.
