Cheddar Chowder

2 cups boiling water
2 cups diced potatoes
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup diced carrots
1/2 cup diced celery
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Cover and simmer about 10 minutes. Do not drain.
Make a white sauce: Melt one-fourth cup butter in saucepan. Mix in one-fourth cup flour. Add two cups milk. Remove from heat and stir in two cups shredded cheddar cheese. Add one cup cooked ham. Add vegetables and heat through, but do not boil. Serve.[[In-content Ad]]
