Bicker, bicker, bicker

"Did not."
"Did too."
"I didn't do it, he did it."
"He did it, not me."
"This is all his fault."
"No, it's your fault."
Heaven help me, it has started again. That constant bickering that makes my neck tense up more with every word.
"He's a liar."
"She's a liar."
"Liar, liar pants on fire."
"I am as honest as the day is long. Anyone should be able to see that."
"Don't believe him. My truth is the only truth. I don't know why you don't understand that."
"You are not very bright, that you can't figure this out."
I feel my shoulder muscle tighten up more. I swear I can feel my edge of my nose start to twitch with distaste.
"It's his fault. I didn't do anything wrong."
"Oh, yeah? Prove that I did it."
"He did it wrong."
"I have proof that I did things right but I'm not going to show you. Why don't you believe me?"
"You hate me don't you? Why do you hate me? It's because you are just mean."
"You should love me. She so-and-so over there? They love me so you should to."
I want to shut my ears off. Couldn't life have a mute button? Bicker, bicker, bicker. Oh my Gosh. Will this ever stop?
"What is wrong with you that you can't see things my way?"
"My way or the highway."
"You know what? I don't like you and neither should anyone else."
"I have more that you? Well I guess I deserve it more than you. Too bad, so sad."
"Get out of my way, you don't do anything right."
"I am only responsible for the good things that happen. Everything else is his fault."
The headache starts to creep up from the base of my skull. The ache settles in behind my right eye. I swear this is going to give me a brain tumor. I can feel it pulsing as it grows.
"That is my friend and you should not say bad things about him."
"So-and-so and their friends? They are lazy no-good bums. If you are hanging with them you must be one, too."
"Takes one to know one."
There are two sides to every story and do you know where the truth is? Usually somewhere in the middle. I've been a parent for almost 14 years; I have that much figured out.
"That guy's a loser. You don't want to be associated with a loser, do you?"
"I demand an apology!"
"I am not apologizing for telling the truth. You should apologize for demanding that I apologize."
It happens more and more - the frequency of the spats as well as the intensity of the argument - as the fury grows. I can't stand it. I have never liked conflict. Why must I listen to this? I start wondering if I could still function in my day-to- day life if I got earplugs.
"No one has paid attention to me for at least 15 hours... I'd better say something controversial."
"I have more money than most people so I must be super smart."
"My facts are better than your facts."
"Really? I know for a fact that you made your facts up."
Did you think I have been listening to children bicker? Oh, no. These are adults (at least in age) known as politicians. Election time is upon us.
So, na-nah na-nah boo-boo. Ha! I have an iPod and don't have to listen to the radio. Thank goodness I don't get any TV stations so I don't have to listen to that crap when I watch my favorite shows. Headlines are quite enough: "So and so disagrees with his opponent!" Really, this is news?
On the news shows every word is analyzed to death and sometimes no one even cared what was said at the time, let alone still hashing it over three days later.
Too bad we can't put them all in time out for a while![[In-content Ad]]
