250 cows

Family: My husband, Ryan, and our two sons, Kaleb, 9, and Gage, 4.

Tell us about your farm. We are half owners of Dolan Farms, LLC. We own the farm with Ryan's parents, Paul and Mary Dolan. We milk 250 cows and raise corn, alfalfa and rye on 800 acres. We also raise all of our own replacement heifers.

What's the busiest time of day for you? Mornings are certainly the busiest. Between getting the kids to school, getting chores done and all the major tasks before noon, it can be pretty hectic.

When you have a spare moment, what do you like to do? Spare moments don't happen very often, but when they do, I like to hunt, garden and read.

Tell us about your most memorable experience on the farm. Recently, I had to help a cow having twins. The twins were twisted, so I had to help her get the calves out. They were born alive and healthy, so there was a sense of accomplishment.

What have you enjoyed most about dairy farming or your tie to the dairy industry? I enjoy that it is not your standard 9-to-5 job. There is always something to do. I also like that I am able to be home on the farm and be with the kids to teach them the importance of farm life.

How do you stay connected to others in the dairy industry? I am involved in different activities. I serve on several boards, am the chair of a few events and am a part of several agricultural organizations that work to support farmers.

In your opinion, what's the importance of women in today's dairy industry and how have you seen that change over the years? Women have become more vocal and are becoming great "ag-vocates" for the industry. More and more women are pulling into the farm, as farmers and to also sell product. I do believe some jobs are done well with a woman's touch.

If you could give a tour of your farm to a prominent woman in today's society, who would it be? Carrie Underwood, so I could explain why she is supporting the wrong organizations and how they are affecting farmers.

What is the best vacation you have ever taken? We took our first family vacation to Texas last year. It was the kid's first time riding on an airplane. We had a lot of fun and would definitely go back any time.

What are some words you like to live by? The only way to do great work is to love what you do.
